Women powering hydrogen innovation
As International Women in Engineering Day approaches on 23 June, CyLH2 Valley celebrates the women helping build a more sustainable energy future.
Building one of Europe’s largest Hydrogen Valleys to drive decarbonisation, innovation and sustainable growth.
The Castilla y León Hydrogen Valley project is a co-funded European initiative aimed at developing and demonstrating a large-scale hydrogen ecosystem in the Castilla y León region of Spain. The project integrates applications across mobility,
industry, and energy.
By 2028–2029, Castilla y León Hydrogen Valley aims to be fully operational, proving the financial viability and technical versatility of clean hydrogen as a cornerstone of the energy transition.
Castilla y León Hydrogen Valley includes 11 pilot sites across Castilla y León, each demonstrating a key element of the hydrogen value chain — from production and distribution to end use in transport, industry, and energy. Together, they form an integrated ecosystem proving the versatility and scalability of green hydrogen.

Hydrogen valleys worldwide are putting the entire value chain into practice. Know-how is building, but fluctuating prices, regulatory uncertainty, and geopolitical tensions are holding back investment - at a time when the technology could soon be ready for the market.
