CyLH2 Valley Learning Capsules series turns to digitalization
The latest session of the CyLH2 Valley knowledge series explored how digital solutions are reshaping the way hydrogen valleys are designed and scaled.
Cleaner preheating processes in metal production
FERRIOLI’s facilities will be configured to use blends of hydrogen and natural gas (up to 20% hydrogen) in the preheating process of secondary metal production. Clean hydrogen, delivered via tube trailers and stored in cylinder packs with an automatic changeover system, will ensure continuous supply during extended firing schedules.
The pilot includes a dedicated hydrogen fuel delivery system, a mixing station, hydrogen-compatible hoses, and advanced control systems to manage flow rates, injection temperatures, safety interlocks, and purging. A data acquisition system will monitor combustion performance. Expected hydrogen consumption is 1,296 tonnes per year.
