Hydrogen Research and Innovation Days 2025
The EU Hydrogen Research and Innovation Days 2025 will take place on 24–25 November 2025 at the Sofitel Europe Hotel in Brussels.
From hydrogen to ammonia
A 20 MW electrolyser plant will be built in Burgos to produce approximately 3,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year. The facility will be powered by renewable energy through PPAs with guarantees of origin and a dedicated 50 MW solar PV plant.
Roughly 98.8% of the hydrogen will be used to produce up to 16,822 tonnes of green ammonia annually. This ammonia will be transported by pipeline to the nearby factory for use in liquid methionine production, an essential ingredient in animal feed. The remaining hydrogen will support a refuelling station (Pilot 8). The plant is expected to enable a reduction of 26,826 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.

Barcelona, 15–16 October 2025 – The Castilla y León Hydrogen Valley consortium gathered in Barcelona for its second General Assembly to review progress and plan the next steps in building a clean hydrogen economy in the region.
The Regional Government of Castilla y León has begun developing the Hydrogen Strategy in Castilla y León 2030, a roadmap to position the region as a European leader in green hydrogen.
